TGCN, new material of the family of the graphene.

Publicado por:

The carbon nitride graphitic based on Triazine (TGCN) is a material whose existence was predicted in 1996 but only recently in recent times it has been possible to synthesize. This has happened at the University of Liverpool and the importance of development is that this material has a similar structure to the graphene.

grafeno-1

The TGCN could be used as a semiconductor for electronic devices, since it has an electronic band range that confers this property to it. As for its structure presents an atom of thickness, like the graphene, being a good conductor of heat and electricity, as well as to present great hardness

In order to produce this material on a commercial scale, the silicon would have its days counted with raw materials for the manufacture of transistors. This material is quite a discovery as there are few the orderly two-dimensional organic solids that exist, so having a new member of the graphene family is encouraging.

The TGCN is at a very early stage of development but the research of its properties will give us an idea of its possible future applications. This material is prepared from a molecule of dicyandiamide, with which prepare crystals of carbon nitride graphitic, similar to graphene but composed of nitrogen.
